AN APPEAL

 

On June 20th, 2005, Malvi Educational and Charitable Trust, started a primary school with 32 children in Halpativas (tribal section) in the outskirts of Kukeri village near Chikhli, Gujarat. In all the 60-70 houses of Halpativas village, not a single person had studied up to 10th standard.

 

In such a situation, the first person to pass 10th standard was Anand Halpati- a student from our Shantaba Vidyalaya,  Veer Ajay Bhartiya Secondary School. At present, Anand is pursuing diploma in Civil Engineering.  When Anand completes his Engineering course, he will be the first Engineer from Halpati community.

 

Thus, a school which was started in a hut, is changing the lives of the children of a less privileged community of a small village. In 2010, we received a donation of Rs. 11 lakhs from Inner Wheel Club of Bombay North; which helped in establishing Secondary School (standard 8,9,10 ). In the past two years, 40 children have appeared for standard 10th exams and 36 children have passed. They are now studying in different Streams and fields.

 

In 2010, members of Inner Wheel Club, came to visit the school. During the visit, Dr. Kirtikumar Vaidya (Kanumama) explained the difficulties faced by tribal girls who study in the Science Stream. As a result of his inspiration and guidance, a donation of Rs. 21 lakh was received from them for construction of the building for Science Stream. The construction of the building is complete now. At the same time, a donor from the USA gave Rs. 15 lakhs for the building for Arts and Commerce Stream. This was possible due to co-operation of Mr. Rajnikumar Pandya. In this way, nine room building for Higher Secondary School has been constructed and we have permission from the govt. to run the school without grant.

 

At present there are 32 students in standard 10. Perhaps some of them will become engineers, doctors, teachers, businessmen, and businesswomen.

 

So it is decided to start Std XI for Science Stream. For this, we need donation for teacher’s salary, education and physical kits, food expense, etc.  The total annual maintenance expense for Std XI is Rs. 18,40,000/- for Science Stream.

 

For Science Std XI, for 40 students  Total cost is Rs 18,40,000/-

Cost of 1 student’s Education is   Rs 34,000/- per year

Cost of 1 student’s Food  is          Rs 12,000/- per year

We appeal to you to educate rural India, make every Indian educated. Please donate generously for as many students as you can. You may adopt a student for Std XI & Std XII and sponsor higher education for him/her all throughout. You may have his/her name, share his/her dreams and motivate him/her to excel too!
